CHANEL bEAUTY

FRAGRANCE & BODY OIL
SUMMER ESSENTIALS

By Deborah Ferguson

CHANEL Fragrant Oils were once exclusively available at Chanel’s only spa Chanel au ritz at the Ritz Paris.

Gabrielle Chanel resided there for 34 years. In 2018 Chanel made the Fragrant oils available for purchase. L’Huile Rose is the most soothing and subtle of the body massage oils. The oils were formulated to allure one’s senses while being massaged.

The L’Huile Rose is made with 98 per cent natural origin ingredients, using May Rose extracts sharpened by green notes. When I massaged the oil onto my slightly damp skin after a hot shower, the occlusive ingredients were enhanced, and my skin stayed soft and moisturized all day. I also tried the L’huile Rose in place of my fragrance on a hot summer day, and the subtle scent lingered without overpowering my senses.

BEIGE LES EXCLUSIFS DE
CHANEL EAU DE PARFUM

“Take refuge in Beige because it’s natural”
– Gabrielle Chanel
Perfumer Jacques Polge
Notes: Hawthorne, Freesia, Frangipani, hints of honey

Testing Beige eau de Parfum on my skin I sensed the dominant
notes of Hawthorne, Frangipani and honey, soon after a hint of
Freesia came into the mix. While it lingered on my skin It had an intimate scent which had a strong sillage. The Frangipani gives this linear fragrance depth and the honey is a cheerful balance
for the fragrance’s long-lasting effect.

VENISE LES EAU DE CHANEL

One of three citrus based scents designed to Recall some of Gabrielle Chanel’s most treasured locations. Venise is my favorite of the trio; It’s sultry with a more discernible musk along with strong oriental fragrance theme. The Vanilla and Amber base notes are balanced with notes of white flowers, Cedar, and citrus fruits. This fragrance is closely modelled on a traditional cologne,
which makes it an appealing, straightforward easy to wear cologne.

As Gabrielle Chanel was inspired by the Baroque and Byzantine elements of Venice, she experiences Venice in 1920 after the death of her lover as a kind of rehab to reawaken her creativity.

Perfumer Polge describes the mystery element to this fragrance:

“The creation of Paris-Venise draws inspiration as much from the long journey on the Orient Express from the French capital to the Italian city,
as from the destination itself. Venice is the gateway to the Orient,
with a soft and enveloping atmosphere- I wanted a fresh fragrance, but with a round and soft expression. It is probably the most urban Eau of the three. Although I worked on all three fragrances at the same time to set them each in their own territory from the start, I finished this one first”

“I used an olfactory world similar to that of eau de cologne as my starting point. Colognes are interesting in the sense that they represent the beauty
and nobleness of simple things.”
